PETALING JAYA: There is now a greater awareness on the importance of e-security due to recent incidences reported in the newspaper.
The Infosecurity 2001, a conference on e-security, will address issues such as information warfare, regulatory issues, content integrity, e-commerce implementation, remote learning environment and network security.
"People are more aware of e-security due to reports such as hacked websites which were highlighted in the newspapers," said Dr Raja Malik Mohamed, organising chairman of Infosecurity 2001. The conference is expecting 500 participants this year.
One of the most serious hackings happened last December when information on the Parliament website was wiped out.
"Though information systems bring great benefits, we must also be aware of the risks involved and be able to defend ourselves," said Husin Jazri, director of National ICT Security and Emergency Response Centre (Niser).
The three-day event will be held from July 3 at the Sheraton Subang Hotel, Subang Jaya, Selangor.
