New channel for delivering security services
              28th May 2002 (The Star)
INTERNET security services provider e-Cop.net (www.e-cop.net) said it has identified a new channel of delivery for its services: It will offer a build-to-operate security service.
In light of the increased usage and dependence on the Internet as more Malaysian businesses migrate onto the e-platform, many organisations have come to recognise that a secure network is not only crucial, it has become a necessity, said Alan See, chief executive officer of e-Cop.net Surveillance Sdn Bhd.
The build to operate service complements its existing portfolio, which includes its Managed Security Monitoring (MSM), Managed Security Services (MSS), and Professional Security Services (PSS) solutions, the company said in a statement.
The new channel of delivery is aimed at large corporations and conglomerates, which might not see outsourcing their network security to a third party as a viable option due to the high expenditure it will incur.
As such, they will view the build-to-operate model as comprehensive and suitable for their e-security needs, e-Cop.net hopes.
The model is best suited to act as the corporations regional IT hub, from which its e-security can be controlled.
The initial capital expenditure sees e-Cop.net setting up a Security Operations Centre (SOC) for the particular client.
Sectors where confidentiality is of prime importance and where outsourcing the network security to a third party is also not a viable option, would also find the model extremely advantageous, the company claimed.
